Picking the Best Putter for Golf, Some Factors to Think About ...

It doesn?t matter what level of golfer you happen to be, there?s one golf club which you are going to make use of much more than any in a game of golf. Definately not the driver, which some players will never take out of their golf bag. It?s needless to say the putter, and becoming a decent and even great putter calls for a putter which is exact for you. Here we?ll investigate some alternatives, along with some thoughts on How to Putt.

Prior to looking for that putter you want, ask yourself what your favored putting stroke is, or the shape of your stroke. Is it a directly back and directly through move, or is it an inside to inside motion, or kind of a mini version of the full golf swing rotation. All putting strokes fall generally in one of the two categories, and your putting stroke style is going to establish the type of putter best for you.

Provided you keep the blade of your putter square to the golf ball through the putting stroke like I do, it is best to look to utilize a middle-shafted design. In other words, the shaft attaches to the putter head top at nearly its center point, and the bottom of your putter will probably be virtually flat with the ground. Let?s say you like the inside to inside stroke, then the heel-shafted putter or the shaft attaching to the heel are for you. With this putter the toe of the golf club has contact with the ground exceeding the rest of your bottom.

An additional facet which may be helpful is small alignment aids at the tops of some putter heads. Another attribute that has had some popularity is placing a strip of urethane, a material employed to make golf balls, on the putter face. Several players favor the softer feel when striking the golf ball.

A further factor to check out in golf putters are ones offering moment of inertia, or MOI. These golf putters refrain from twisting when the golf ball is struck off-center, and the dissimilarity may be considerable. Essentially it turns your terrible putts into not-so-bad ones, but according to a report reported in Golf Digest, it could make a four foot disparity for a 22 foot putt. It certainly makes that following putt considerably easier.

Then what do you need to do when you purchase a putter that feels desirable, you?ve given it every viable chance to help out your Golf Short Game and it in spite of everything fails you? Maybe it is time to look for the final resort of golf putters, those you observe a lot on the Champions Tour. I recognize these extended golf putters look ridiculous, but they take the wrist action out of putting. As you become older your wrist action is usually the very first thing to fall apart.

These long golf putters drop into two types: belly putters and long putters. Belly putters affix to the stomach area and are intended to minimize wrist action. Long putters are five to ten inches longer and they get rid of all wrist action, since the left hand is going to secure the top of your golf club with the chest or below your chin, and the right hand merely guides the golf club through the putting action. Such putters are relaxed for the nerves and worth a try if conventional putting have been burdening you with troubles.

You know what I like? I like fixing things... - Family Woodworking

So Bob (the skid steer) developed a leak in his auxilliary hydraulics last week. It's because the old hydraulic tube was all bent up and was actually getting pinched between the arm and the body.

Well the new tube came in today so I picked it up and installed it. It was actually pretty easy, but I had to use one of my woodworking clamps to pull the fitting into place so I could attach it at the end of the arm. Nothing is bent out of shape or anything and the new piece fits just like it shows in the pictures in the book, and not like the old one. Took me about 45 minutes, but only because I was taking my time on things.

Works like a champ and I'm back in business.

To top it off, the local bobcat shop is a nice friendly place, and I picked up a whole new set of filters for bob. So this weekend he gets a bit of a cleaning and all fluids and filters will be changed...

Here's what it was like before. You can see the top line was getting led way to the left.

Nepal's ex-rebel fighters begin leaving camps (AP)

SHAKTIKHOR MAOIST CAMP, Nepal ? Nepal's former communist rebel fighters began leaving the camps they have called home for five years on Friday after receiving government checks as part of a plan to integrate them into society.

Thousands of former Maoist rebels have been living in camps spread across Nepal since 2006, when the Maoists abandoned their 10-year-old armed revolt and joined a peace process. Their fighters were then moved to the U.N.-monitored camps, where their weapons were locked in metal containers.

Government monitors started handing the checks to the former fighters Friday and will take a few more days to complete the process, said Balananda Sharma, the chief monitor.

Each of the former rebels is to receive from 500,000 rupees ($6,250) to 800,000 rupees ($10,000), depending on their rank in the People's Liberation Army. Sharma said they'll be given half the amount now and the other half later this year.

The former fighters have lived in the camps for five years because of disagreements between the political parties on what to do with them. The parties finally reached an agreement late last year to allow 6,500 of the ex- rebels to join the national army while the remaining would be given money to start fresh civilian lives.

At the Shaktikhor camp in Chitwan district, some 100 miles (160 kilometers) south of the capital, Katmandu, the former fighters lined up outside the tent where government monitors in blue hats and jackets checked their documents and identification cars before giving them the checks.

First in the line was Uday Bahadur Chalaune, 34, the deputy commander of the camp, who received the full 800,000 rupees.

Chalaune said he was leaving the camp so he could go back to his village and begin a new life as a politician. He said he would work for the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), the nation's largest political party.

"There are still many issues that need to be resolved. I am sad to leave the camp without addressing these issues," Chalaune said. "But at the same time we gained many things through our people's war, like converting the nation to a republic."

Not all the former rebels were happy with the government's package.

Pabitra Khadka, 23, who still has bullet fragments lodged in her, said it would be difficult for both her and her husband, who also has battle injuries, to afford to continue receiving medical treatment once they leave the camps.

They plan to move back to their village in west Nepal and work on the family farm they left when they joined the Maoists eight years ago.

"The main reason for leaving is to take care of my child and her education," Khadka said. "We were assured by our leaders that even our children would be taken care of. But we have not heard about medical aid or any help for our children."

Bhola Aryal, 30, who lost his right arm while fighting the government army, said he was planning to pool the money with his friends and begin a small business.

"I have only one arm so I can't work in the fields, so some of us from the same village decided to open up a business with the money," Aryal said, adding that he was worried about medical costs because he has to routinely visit doctors.

The Maoists fought government troops for 10 years, starting in 1996. After joining the peace process, they joined mainstream politics and contested elections in 2008, emerging as the largest political party.

Nepal's current prime minister, Buburam Bhattarai, is the deputy leader of the Maoist party. He formed the government last year with the support of smaller political parties.

Many of those who received the checks Friday were beginning to leave the camps. A formal farewell ceremony is planned for Feb. 11, with the Maoists' leader, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and the prime minister expected to attend.

Official: Mexican army sends more troops to west (AP)

MORELIA, Mexico ? The Mexican government is sending thousands of additional troops to the violence-stricken western state of Michoacan, a military official said Thursday.

The official told The Associated Press that the first of some 4,000 soldiers had begun arriving in the state capital, Morelia, to prepare for an offensive in a mountainous western section of the state known as Tierra-Caliente. The area has been hit by a surge in violence in recent weeks.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information. A military spokesman declined to comment.

The deployment is the largest in Michoacan since July 2009, when some 5,500 troops and federal police arrived.

Authorities in Michoacan are battling quasi-religious drug cartels called La Familia and the Knights Templar that claim to be following divine will.

Officials said at least 56 people were slain in the state last month during at least 10 battles between criminal gangs and law-enforcement officers. The violence has been most prevalent in Tierra-Caliente.

Romney has money, momentum in GOP race (AP)

TAMPA, Fla. ? Barreling out of Florida with money and momentum on his side, Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney said Wednesday that the bare-knuckled nomination fight thus far has toughened him up for contests to come. Chief rival Newt Gingrich is regrouping after a significant loss and faces serious disadvantages in the next states to vote.

Romney, who won big in Florida with a barrage of negative ads, predicted the tone of the GOP campaign was "just a precursor to what you'll see" from President Barack Obama in the general election. And he said voters paid more attention to what they heard in the campaign debates than whatever ads were flooding the airwaves.

"Perhaps what we're getting now inoculates us, or at least prepares us, for what will come down the road," Romney said as he made the rounds of morning television shows.

Looking ahead, Romney said his campaign is focused squarely on middle-income Americans ? to the exclusion of others at either end of the spectrum. But his comments about the poor Wednesday appeared certain to be fodder for critics.

"I'm not concerned about the very poor." he said on CNN. "We have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I'll fix it. I'm not concerned about the very rich. They're doing just fine. I'm concerned about the very heart of America, the 90-95 percent of Americans who are struggling."

Questioned about his comment on the poor, Romney reiterated that they have "a very ample safety net" but that "we can talk about whether it needs to be strengthened."

Obama's campaign, looking to make some money off the GOP squabbling, issued a fund-raising appeal Wednesday focused on the millions that Romney and his supporters had poured into negative ads.

"That's ugly, and it tells us a lot about what to expect from Romney if he wins the Republican nomination," said campaign manager Jim Messina. "They're going to try to spend and smear their way to the White House."

Romney said his path ahead "is looking very good" as he heads to Minnesota and Nevada for campaign stops Wednesday. Gingrich, meanwhile, worked to convince supporters that the primary is a two-person race.

Vowing to stay the course, Gingrich said Tuesday, "We are going to contest everyplace." He planned stops in three Nevada cities on Wednesday.

Nevada and Maine have caucuses on Saturday. Minnesota, Colorado and Missouri all hold contests on Tuesday. Michigan and Arizona hold primaries on Feb. 28.

Romney begins February with formidable advantages in fundraising and organization. His campaign raised $24 million in the final months of 2011, dwarfing his competitors and leaving him with $20 million to fight a primary battle that's increasingly spread across many states.

The former Massachusetts governor has had staff and volunteers on the ground in upcoming states for months as he's prepared for a drawn-out fight for delegates to the Republican National Convention in August. Gingrich, meanwhile, doesn't have a strong ground game as he looks to contests in states that could prove problematic for him. And in a nomination fight so far defined by debates ? typically a strong point for the former House speaker ? he faces a three-week stretch without one. The candidates will next debate in Arizona on Feb. 22.

Romney won Nevada's caucuses in 2008, and a substantial Mormon population there could propel him to victory. Still, Texas Rep. Ron Paul has been organizing in the state for months and could pose a strong challenge. Romney's campaign is working to paint the nomination fight as a four-candidate contest, with Paul and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum still in the mix. Santorum campaigned in Nevada and Colorado on Tuesday.

Romney's Florida win was a smart rebound from an earlier defeat and represented a major step toward the nomination. He'll receive Secret Service protection, beginning Wednesday, requested by his campaign.

Tuesday night, he unleashed a strong attack on Obama and said the competitive fight for the GOP nomination "does not divide us, it prepares us" for the fall.

"Mr. President, you were elected to lead, you chose to follow, and now it's time to get out of the way," Romney declared.

With 100 percent of Florida's precincts reporting, Romney had 46 percent of the vote to Gingrich's 32 percent. Santorum had 13 percent and Paul 7 percent; neither mounted a substantial effort in the state.

The winner-take-all primary was worth 50 Republican National Convention delegates, by far the most of any primary state so far.

But the bigger prize was precious political momentum.

That momentum belonged to Romney when he captured the New Hampshire primary three weeks ago, then swung stunningly to Gingrich when he countered with a South Carolina upset 11 days later.

Now it is back with Romney, after a change to more aggressive tactics, coupled with an efficient use of an overwhelming financial advantage to batter Gingrich with television commercials.

For the first time in the campaign, exit polls showed a gender gap in Romney's favor. He ran far better among women than Gingrich, winning just over half of their votes, to three in 10 for his rival.

Only about half of the women voters said they had a favorable view of the thrice-married Gingrich as a person, while about eight in 10 had a positive opinion of Romney.

Supreme Court to charge Pakistani PM with contempt (AP)

ISLAMABAD ? Pakistan's Supreme Court vowed Thursday to charge the prime minister with contempt for his failure to reopen an old corruption case against the president, ramping up a destabilizing political crisis just as Washington seeks to rebuild a troubled anti-terror alliance with the country.

If convicted, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani could face six months in prison and the loss of his job.

The court ordered Gilani to appear before it on Jan. 13, when he will be charged.

The announcement was a major escalation in a case that has dogged the democratically elected government since 2009, when the Supreme Court ordered it write to Swiss authorities requesting they reopen a corruption case against President Asif Ali Zardar that dates to the late 1990s.

The government has refused, claiming the president enjoys immunity from prosecution while in office.

In early January, the judges threatened to hold Gilani in contempt if he didn't write the letter, and ordered him to make a rare appearance before the court to plead his case.

Gilani struck a conciliatory tone before the judges on Jan. 19, and his lawyer, Aitzaz Ahsan, agreed to argue the issue of the president's immunity when the hearing resumed. The government previously insisted presidential immunity was a right, and therefore didn't need to be debated in court.

But Ahsan appeared to do a U-turn, refusing to specifically address the issue of presidential immunity.

Instead, he simply argued that Gilani should not be held in contempt because his lawyers advised him he did not have to send the letter. The judges didn't accept that, and after five-hours of debate, said Gilani would be charged.

Ahsan said he would advise Gilani to appeal before Jan. 13, something that could draw out the proceedings further.

A defendant has the right to appeal in a contempt case in Pakistan even before a trial begins.

"It was my wish that there confrontation between institutions of the state should be avoided, but now the situation is looking tense," Ahsan told reporters outside the court.

Government supporters say the court is trying to oust Zardari because of enmity between the president and the chief justice. They also claim the case can't be separated from tensions between the government and the army, which has carried out three coups in the country's history. In those cases, the Supreme Court either stood by or legitimized the actions.

The court has also ordered an inquiry into a secret memo scandal that is also threatening Zardari.

The memo was allegedly sent to Washington by the government last year asking for help in stopping a supposed military coup. The government has denied the allegations, and the case appeared to lose steam last week when the main witness refused to come to Pakistan to testify.

The graft case against Zardari relates to kickbacks that he and his late wife, former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, allegedly received from Swiss companies when Bhutto was in power. They were found guilty in absentia in a Swiss court in 2003. Zardari appealed, but Swiss prosecutors ended up dropping the case after the Pakistani parliament passed a bill giving the president and others immunity from old corruption cases that many agreed were politically motivated.

The Pakistani Supreme Court ruled the bill unconstitutional in 2009, triggering the slow moving process.

Since January, the case has consumed Pakistan's highly polarized political and media elite, deflecting attention from what many say are existential threats to the country like an ailing economy and a violent Islamist insurgency that is showing little sign of ebbing.

Relations between Islamabad and a vital donor, the United States, are at a low ebb after U.S. aircraft killed 24 Pakistani soldiers on the Afghan border last November, prompting Pakistan to close its border to U.S. and NATO supplies heading for Afghanistan.

The government say it is reevaluating its relationship with the United States as a result, and is facing domestic pressure not to reopen the supply lines.

Washington wants to rebuild ties with Pakistan because it needs the help of Pakistan's army in pushing the Taliban to make peace with the Afghan government. That would enable Washington to withdraw its troops without a civil war breaking out in the country.
